The 2027 total solar eclipse in southern Spain

On Monday 2 August 2027 the moon’s shadow crosses the Strait of Gibraltar. Southern Spain is the only place in continental Europe where the eclipse will be total, and totality lasts up to 4 minutes and 48 seconds at its longest point.

We are a Spanish travel agency on that coast, and these are our English-language guides to planning the trip: where the path runs, how long totality lasts in each town, which places to choose, and when hotels open for booking. All durations come from the Instituto Geográfico Nacional, Spain’s national mapping agency. Where a figure cannot be confirmed, we say so instead of guessing.

We’ll message you on WhatsApp when eclipse hotels in the totality zone open bookings (expected November 2026). Hotel-only bookings welcome — arrange your own flight.

The rest of this website is in Spanish, including a much larger set of eclipse articles covering individual towns, what to pack, eye safety and travelling with children.
